Accountancy practices, tax firms, audit practices and
payroll administrators run on a specific software layer:
Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS, CCH, Thomson Reuters, Xero and the
practice-management suites around them, sitting on top of a
Microsoft 365 estate that has to reliably serve
client-organised folders, sensitive financial documents, and
the year-end and tax-season concurrency peaks that push
infrastructure to its limits. Cloud Drive Mapper brings
real-time Microsoft 365 file access to accounting
practices without disrupting how partners, accountants, admin
staff and clients work with files.

01
Full compatibility with the accounting software your practice runs on
Practice-management, accounting, tax, audit and payroll
software all expect a Windows drive letter or UNC path.
Sage, QuickBooks Desktop, IRIS practice suites, CCH,
Thomson Reuters tools, Xero desktop connectors and the
long tail of jurisdiction-specific tax software all
behave the same way: they open, lock and write client
data files through the file system. Migration to
SharePoint has stalled in many practices because that
software layer simply does not understand cloud-file
semantics.
Cloud Drive Mapper presents Microsoft 365 storage as
virtual network drives with real file paths. Every
accounting application that expects a Z: or an S: drive
gets one. Software that takes exclusive locks on client
data files during batch runs (a common pattern at month-end
and year-end) sees those locks honoured at the storage
layer, exactly as it would against a network share.
Migration to Microsoft 365 stops being blocked by
application compatibility.
02
Multi-client folder structure preserved as it moves to SharePoint
Accounting practices organise everything around the client.
Each client (or matter, or engagement) has a folder tree
the whole practice recognises: current-year working papers,
prior-year archive, tax returns, correspondence, payroll
files. Partners and staff navigate that structure by muscle
memory. Anything that disrupts it disrupts fee-earning
work.
Cloud Drive Mapper maps SharePoint document libraries as
drive letters. Whichever client-folder structure the
practice has built up over the years survives the move to
Microsoft 365 unchanged. Partners, accountants and
admin staff open the same client folders the same way,
from the same drive letters. The storage layer moves;
nothing else has to.
03
Familiar drive letters that survive year-end and tax season
Accounting has hard deadlines. Year-end, quarterly filing,
tax season, statutory audit windows. A file-access change
that lands mid-January or mid-April will be noticed, in a
bad way, by partners and clients alike. Retraining a
workforce that has worked the same way for decades is not
on the table while filing deadlines are pending.
Cloud Drive Mapper looks like a file server to the user.
The S: drive, the T: drive, the folder tree the whole
practice has been using for years: still there, still
exactly where it was. Partners open working papers the way
they always did. Admin staff file correspondence the way
they always did. The storage behind it has moved to
Microsoft 365, but the working experience did not
change.
