Announcement: Cloud Drive Mapper V2 deprecation

Following the General Availability release of Cloud Drive Mapper V3 in August 2025, we are now beginning to think about bringing an orderly end to CDM V2.

The official deprecation date of CDM V2 (2.x) is: 31st March 2026.

This gives all our customers and partners 6 months from today to make their move to CDM V3.

In truth, we would have liked to provide more than 6 months notice, however following conversations we’ve had recently with the Microsoft 365 WebDAV team it has become clear that MS are actively thinking about the deprecation of the 365 WebDAV service, which V2 is reliant upon.

Microsoft will definitely provide advanced notice of a change of that magnitude, but whether it will be a quick or prolonged process by Microsoft is not known. We know it will not happen in 2025 – MS have already internally ruled this out. But it seems possible it will be some time in 2026. With the recent RPS changes, Microsoft gave around 3 months notice of the hard-removal, and only a few days notice of the soft-disablement. Removing WebDAV would be significantly more consequential than removing RPS so it makes sense that MS would provide at least at much notice, and probably quite a lot more.

But given the uncertainty and the potential impact, to best protect our customers and partners from any unhappy surprises we feel recommending customers to move away from V2 by the end of Q1 2026 is the safest thing to do. Hence our choice of deprecation date.

We appreciate that for some larger organizations that 6 months might not sound like a great deal of time especially when you have other projects and priorities. As such, we are happy to help out in any way we can to assist with your transition to V3. So please feel free to reach out to our support team (support@iamcloud.com) to ask to speak to a deployment engineer, and they can provide as much help as you need. And if you have any other questions or concerns, again our support team is available to assist.
